Stackable Rings: How to Wear Them Like a Pro

Anyone who knows anything about fashion knows that no outfit is complete without proper accessories, and no accessory is hotter right now than stackable rings. There are, however, some rules to bear in mind when choosing the right stackable rings for you, so I thought I’d share some of them with you to help you to make the right choice.

Size Matters

This point is two-fold – firstly, if you have big hands, wearing rings which are too big will make it look like you’re wearing knuckle dusters, and if you have super dainty hands you also don’t want to wear rings which will overwhelm you. Also, consider the fact that if you’re wearing several rings at once, you want to make sure they work together as several rings which are too big will be way too much, regardless of your hand size.

Styling

In the past, the idea of wearing gold and silver together was a huge no-no, but these days it’s actually really trendy to combine your metals. If you are new to this trend, you could try to stack rings by the colour of the metal – you could combine white gold with silver and platinum, as they all have a similar tone. Another idea is to stack them according to the metal. Wearing a rose gold ring along with a yellow and white gold ring looks great.

Ring Type

Something you also need to think about when it comes to stacking rings is to think about the style of the individual rings. While each ring can be different, you don’t want to try stacking rings which really don’t go together – for example, if you’ve got a gorgeous antique cameo ring, that’s not going to look right alongside something ultra modern and geometric. Try to pick a theme or shared attribute between your rings and stick to it.

Gems

Too many gems in your stackable ringsAnother thing to consider is whether your rings have gemstones in them – mix too many different gemstones and you’re going to end up looking like Thanos in the Infinity Gauntlet. If you have a statement ring with a large stone and want to wear other, smaller rings with gems, try to acth them as closely to the main stone as possible, OR stick to a scheme, such as rings with pastel stones so that they coordinate with one another.

Hair – Five Ways to Care for Your Mane

How to Care for your Hair
Photo by Tim Mossholder on Unsplash

For a lot of us, our mop is something we take for granted. It’s there, on the tops of our heads, an we don’t think about it much beyond washing it and getting it cut occasionally. However, for some people, hair can be a problematic issue and it can cause problem with self esteem. With that in mind, I’ve put together a few tips for things that you can do to look after your mane, to keep it in tip-top condition:

Invest in Good Products

You might be tempted to go for the cheapest shampoo and conditioner you can find, and you wouldn’t be alone in this, but investing in good quality products like Nanogen hair products will help to ensure you’re not using unneccessary chemicals which could damage your hair in the long run. The issue with cheaper products is that they may leave your locks in worse condition due to harmful chemicals that strip the hair of its natural oils.

Use Protection

There are so many things that damage your hair on a day to day basis, from the UV rays of the sun to your hair straighteners, so using some form of protection is essential. Get yourself a heat protection spray for use before styling your ‘do, and find a good UV protection product for daily use. The absolute best way to protect your hair from the sun, besides completely avoiding it, is by wearing a hat or cap.

Think About Brushing

While we were once advised to do the whole “100 strokes before bedtime” thing, the current wosdom suggests that you should be brushing your hair twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed. This prevents matting and keeps the natural oils of your head distributed evenly through your hair. You should also buy a good brush – a mixture of mylon and boar bristles is currently thought to be the best combination to keep your hair strong and healthy.

Treat Yourself to Weekly Treatments

If style your hair with heat, you will already know the benefits of using deep hydrating treatments to replenish any lost moisture. The same effect can also be achieved by using an oil high in vitamin E, such as olive or avocado oil. To get the best results, gently warm the oil in a pan on a low heat and apply to your whole head. Wrap in a warm towel and wash out after fourth five minutes. The heated oil allows it to be more easily absorbed into the cuticle, boosting its effective qualities.

Turn the Shower Down

Rinsing your head with cold water helps with closing your cuticle after your hair is washed. Open cuticle is good while shampooing or conditioning your hair but after you’re done, you want to seal the cuticle. This way, your hair doesn’t get damaged too easily. If you use cold water for your final rinse then there’s a much better chance that your tresses will stay shiny, healthy and frizz-free for a longer period of time.

How to Choose the Right Shoes for Every Occasion

When money is tight, a woman may find she cannot purchase multiple pairs of shoes at one time. She must choose only one or two styles and make do with them until the budget frees up. Fortunately, there are certain types of shoes that are very versatile and can be worn for different types of events. What types of shoes should a woman choose for every occasion?

Flats

A good pair of flats is ideal for those days when a woman doesn’t have time to change between the office and her evening plans. By selecting a pair of flats, she can ensure her feet don’t hurt from the shoes and she can do more throughout the day. Some women choose to invest in pumps for this purpose, but others find they prefer a pair of oxfords. As there are so many styles to choose from, every woman should be able to find at least one pair of flats she loves at fillyflair.com

Casual Shoes

Every woman, even those who don’t regularly take part in sports, needs a good pair of casual shoes. While many of these shoes are designed for a specific sport, others are offered that can be used for multiple purposes. Pull these shoes out for a day at the mall when a great deal of walking will be done or for those times when the kids have an outdoor activity and mom wants to ensure she can keep up. This doesn’t mean a woman must go with a pair of athletic shoes, however. Select a pair of canvas tennis shoes or those that can be slipped on and off with ease. These are typically more than enough for outings such as these.

Weather-Appropriate Footwear

Ladies often overlook weather-appropriate footwear when they go to purchase new shoes. Doing so is a mistake, as footwear manufacturers now understand a woman wants to be fashionable regardless of what the weather is like. Rain boots, snow boots, and more are now more stylish than ever before, and every female should have at least one pair of rain or snow boots in her closet.

Sliders

For those times when convenience is the top priority, sliders are great to have. Simply slide the foot into the shoe and head out the door. Just because these shoes are comfortable and easy to wear doesn’t mean they can’t be stylish as well. Be sure to try on a number of pairs to find the shoe that is most comfortable and can be worn with a wide variety of outfits. Women who take the time to do so find they get more use out of the sliders and enjoy them more.

Sandals With Heels

Every woman should own at least one pair of sandals with heels, preferably more. This type of shoe is perfect for formal occasions and can be worn to work with ease. A black pair is ideal for either situation, and a white pair can be obtained for weddings and other events during the summer months. The same is true of a nude pair of sandals with heels. The key is to choose a pair with a small heel, approximately one or two inches, as this makes the shoe more versatile.

Invest in high-quality shoes and feel the difference. Women tend to spend a great deal of time on their feet and need to ensure the right shoes are selected for the occasion. Make use of the above suggestions and you’ll find you always have the right footwear regardless of what is on your schedule.

Dressing for Success: What Are 5 Essential Components of a Women’s Business Outfit?

I know; morphing from a beauty diva whose closet has dozens and dozens of casual attire to a smart and decent business lady isn’t easy. You possibly can’t even fathom the prospect of looking stylish on an official outfit, different from your usual casual, attire!

Looking chic on a business outfit

You only have to discern which clothes match with which other one and the mojo to navigate vaguer social rules and dress to kill. And you don’t even have to do a complete overhaul of your current collection or even spend a fortune, shopping for an entirely new set.

Just a little new set of selected types of official women’s attire and you are fully ready to start “slaying” again on your new outfit. There are over five main components that make up an ideal women’s business attire.

1. Start with a well-knitted blazer

Out of all women’s official wear, you will need, a blazer shouldn’t miss. And whether you are new to the world of office wear or not, spotting a nice, cute and quality blazer isn’t hard. Go for something that’s nicely cut and knitted to perfection, slim and fitting, especially on your arms.
The good thing with a blazer – bold colours are cool, is that it goes with pretty much any other attire. It goes well with your dress, that skirt or even that only black pant you love wearing to official gatherings.

2. Accessorize well

Nothing completes a killer look of a smart, focused professional businesswoman more than a nice watch, a beautiful necklace, and a matching earring. Coordinating jewelry with your office attire isn’t hard, provided you learn more about which fashionable brands are good for you. The same is true for a watch.

But for someone who probably has never shopped for a timepiece before, I’d suggest that you don’t splurge on one of those super-expensive brands. Just go for something that will look nice on your wrist and still match with a majority of what’s in your wardrobe.

3. A Beautiful To-The-Knee Dress

Once in a while, you will need to remind everyone that the chic, fashionista in you isn’t dead yet. While doing this, however, choose a well-cut dress that’s thick and flattering, but comfortable when put on.

Naturally, dresses are fantastic for business meetings for they ooze elegance and sheer sophistication. But it’s also an instant choice that doesn’t disappoint during one of those days when you can’t decide what to wear. Just make sure you go for solid coloured dresses – sleeveless or not.

4. IMPORTANT: roomy, high-quality handbag

Don’t forget to tag along with a cute handbag. Work bags that are a little bit of everything; professional, but not too roomy, and not too bulky, will accentuate the calm and organized business woman in you. Ideally, your handbag should be able to comfortably carry all your essentials and still feel comfortable to walk with.

5. Cute, comfortable heels

I’ll not talk about flats and ankle strap (or sneakers) official shoes for women because they are part of everyone’s staples. When it comes to heels, however, it’s okay to have at least a pair – just in case. Pointy or not; super-high or not, your choice should, however, feel comfortable to put on and trendy with your overall office wear.

Going through this list, you should feel confident investing in them, especially if you are considering buying a couple for a start. Other outfits to consider are a beautiful, bold-coloured blouse and a beautiful pencil skirt. The best thing is to have a perfect blend of them so that, choosing what to pair with which another one becomes a breeze!

Last Minute Gift Ideas for Tween and Teen Boys

We’re at a point now where the majority of the Christmas shopping is done, bar the big food shop which will probably happen on Sunday. It’s been a funny year of gift buying; Sausage is at an age where toys aren’t really her thing and she has a phone, laptop, TV, tablet, camera etc already, so we’ve had to really wrack our brains to think of a main gift for her. BB is still easy enough to buy for, as she’s only got to sit in front of Nickleodeon for half an hour and she’s found 20 new things she wants from the adverts.

Husband and I have two nephews, one who is the same age as Sausage and one who is 14 and I have to say, they’re two of the hardest family members to buy for. They both love their labels, so they’d be happy with a boys Hugo Boss t-shirt but beyond that we always feel stumped. They’re the same as our girls in the respect that they have everything a tween or teen could want, but they’re also both amazing at saving money from Christmasses and birthdays, so they rarely have to wait for people to buy them stuff if there’s something they want, mid-year.

One thing that we’ve found works quite well is clubbing together with other family members to buy them larger items which would be out of budget if we bought them by ourselves. The family did this last year when BB wanted a trampoline for her birthday; it meant that BB got exactly what she wanted and it saved several people from having to come up with ideas for individual presents.

If we wanted to opt for something a bit more pricey, a boys Hugo Boss coat would be a great gift to club together and get them. What kid doesn’t love going back to school after Christmas and showing off the stuff they got, especially if that stuff is designer!

Are there people in your family who you struggle to buy gifts for each year? Have you found it harder as the kids have got older? Would you resort to simply sticking money in a card and letting them buy something for themselves in the sale? Please leave me a comment below, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
