What’s on Your Bucket List?

If you’re not familiar with the term bucket list, it’s a phrase that people use to describe the things that they want to do before they “kick the bucket”. It’s not the most elegant of phrases but it certainly does the job in terms of being descriptive! I’m going to be 38 this summer, which means that the big 4-0 is not as far away as I would like. I’ve been thinking about some of the things I would like to do before I turn 40. Some of them are pretty random. Some of them are probably the same things that were on the list when I did this before I was 30. I thought I would share them with you today for a bit of fun.

Finish my Novel

I know for a fact that “start my novel” was on my previous bucket list, and I’m proud to say that this is one that I have achieved! I started writing a kids book a couple of years ago and I’ve actually already got almost 8000 words written. But now I need to actually FINISH it and then find out how the heck I can get some publishers to look at it! If anyone has any ideas of what to do, leave me a comment below. 

Pilot a Boat

Many years ago, I got taken out on a boat by my friend’s family. Her Dad allowed me to take the wheel for a little while. It was such an amazing experience and it’s something that’s on my bucket list, maybe in a different kind of boat. I recently discovered that RYA Powerboat Training specialises in boat charters and training courses. I’m seriously considering a trip to the Solent to try it out!

Have a Holiday

Husband and I haven’t been on holiday for a reeeeeally long time (since we got married, in fact). The girls have actually never been on a proper holiday at all, so this is something that I really want to prioritise in the next couple of years. There’s so much travelling that I want to do and so many places that I desperately want to see. But. for now, I’d settle for a week in a cottage somewhere in the UK so that we can take Maureen with us! 

Lose Weight

Depressingly, this was also on my “before 30” list and I still haven’t fully achieved it. BUT, I have made a start! My blood sugars haven’t been great lately so I’m taking my health a lot more seriously. I’m eating a very low calorie diet to try to shift some weight and hopefully temper my diabetes. I’ve even started a YouTube channel called “Jayne’s Journey – Low Sugar Life”. There, you can see me vlogging about dieting and weight loss as a diabetic! 

Work With Animals

When I was younger, I used to do as much charity work and volunteering as I could. It was something that I found incredibly fulfilling. Now that I have a family, it’s not something that I have as much time for. But, I would really like to find a way to work with animals on a volunteer basis. It’s probably something I should put some more research into so that I can make it happen.
