In a utopian world, we would all be able to roll out of bed, yawn beautifully and head to the airport looking like a VS model about to head down the runway without us having to do anything. Unfortunately, though, Donald Trump is President of the United States, which is all the evidence we need to know we don’t live in utopia.
But before you give up on everything and cancel the flights you’ve just booked and all the bucket-list activities your family was looking forward to, we want you to know that, while it isn’t one-hundred percent easy, there are a few things every girl can do to look their best in time for a vacation.
So, without further ado, here is the real girl’s guide to getting vacation ready:
Step 1: Tune That Diet
Literally, the first thing you should do after booking your flights, hotels and whatever else is committing to a healthier lifestyle. Not one of those fads that say you can get shred in six minutes or slim in two days, just a nice gentle lifestyle upheaval with, let’s say, two months to go. Drink lots of water, snack on walnuts, chow down on avocado and eat oily-fish. Looking vacation-good is a matter of feeling good, and that comes from a healthy lifestyle. Simple.
Step 2: Pamper Yourself
Most men find this part of the process pretty hard to understand, but there are a bunch of appointments you deserve to make in the build-up to a vacation. We’re talking about a bit of retail therapy with one aim: find a perfect sundress. We’re talking about getting pampered at the hairdressers, nail salon, waxing parlour and all that sort of stuff. If you really want to, and there is nothing saying you can’t, book in a quick tan too, as well as some brow and lash touch-ups. It’s a girly thing.
Step 3: Photograph Everything
You may be thinking that photographs are for the holiday itself, but you’d be wrong. Photographs are just as important before and that’s because real girls lose stuff, misplace things and have forgetful memories. As such, get the camera up on the phone and snap some pictures of your passport, your prescription medicines and any paperwork you’re probably going to lose at some point. It’s just not worth the risk.
Step 4: Wintery Feet
This is one of those appointments you should have made but, surprise-surprise, forgot to make. This is bad because our feet are the most abused part of our bodies and so a lick of paint isn’t going to be enough to sort them out. Not properly anyway. The simplest way to do this is to file away the dead skin before you shower, and then let your feet soak in an intensely hydrating foot lotion. Your feet will be on show on holiday, so make sure they are beautified.
Step 4: Have A Hair Cut
Sun, salt, sand, sea and all that sort of exposure is going to wreak havoc on your hair, which is why we recommend you get your haircut before you leave and properly washed and protected. A great way to do this yourself is to use a lovely conditioner. It’s the perfect prep for an overexposure of sun.
