eNail Mail Order Nail Polish – Review and Giveaway

When one of my lovely friends asked if I would like to review Enail, the mail order service for personalised nail polish, I jumped at the chance! If you’ve ever watched this vlog, you’ll know I’m a bit of an addict and it just so happens that Sausage has taken after Mummy and developed a penchant for nail polish all of her own.

Enail is a website which allows you to choose from a range of colours, place them into a gift box of your choice and even put a personalised message on the bottle in your favourite font. You can choose to make the choices yourself or gift a voucher code to your giftee to create their own. Sausage and I set about making our choices and found the website super easy to use, with a really nice range of colours to choose from.

Screenshot from 2014-12-04 16:59:06enail online nail polish giftsSausage and I had no trouble finding three colours we liked – in fact we struggled to narrow it down to just three! We went for three glitters – with Christmas coming up, you just can’t beat a bit of sparkle – in fact Sausage and I agreed that for less than £20, eNail would make an amazing Christmas present, especially for someone who you might not get to see over the Festive period.

One the nail varnishes arrived, we were both really impressed with not only the quality of the polish but also the packaging. We went for the leopard print box with a turquoise bow, which Sausage immediately claimed for herself to re-purpose at a later date and being the super kind mother that I am, I let her have it *grumble grumble*.

The colours we chose were a very Frozen-inspired blue, a glittery pink (naturally…) and a dark maroon/purply colour, all glittery and glam. eNail also send a free clear nail polish to be used as a base coat or top coat, which can be super useful for using under strong colours which might stain your nails, or even over the top for an added layer of strength and longevity. Sausage insisted upon having her nails painted with ALL of the colours immediately and we were both pleased to see that the polishes went on nicely, giving even coverage and were of a high quality.

All in all, both Sausage and myself were really impressed with eNail, the ease of use of their site, the speed with which the products arrived, the packaging and the quality and selection of nail polishes available. It’s a service we’d highly recommend and will definitely be using it again in the future.

eNail have been kind enough to give Mum’s the Word a set of polishes to give to our readers, so to be in with a chance of winning, just leave us a comment below telling us what your favourite Christmas song is. You can also earn a bonus entry by subscribing to Mum’s the Word using the box in the sidebar. Good luck!

Giveaway starts at 11am on Tuesday 9th December and ends at 11am on Monday 15th December. Winners will be sent a code to use on the eNail site to the value of £19.95 and can choose their own polishes and gift options. No cash equivalent will be offered.

Mum’s the Word 4th Anniversary Giveaway!

prizesOn 4th October, I realised that it had been 4 years since I started Mum’s the Word (you can find my first ever post here) and it felt like something which should be celebrated. You see, I’m rather flighty when it comes to personal endeavours and I’ve never, EVER stuck at a hobby or pastime for as long as this, although seeing as blogging is now my job as well as my hobby, I guess you could say it’s evolved into being so much more than a way for me to get my ramblings out.

ANYWAY.

To celebrate, I thought I’d do a bit of a giveaway and I’ve got some lovely things to be won! Each prize has it’s own Rafflecopter widget below and you can enter as many of them as you like.

Firstly, my lovely friend Donna at Little Lily Pad Co. has given me a gorgeous pink baby sock bundle (seems appropriate seeing as 2014 was the year I gave birth to my second baby girl!) to give away, which you can win by filling in the Rafflecopter Widget below:

Next up is a gorgeous handmade treat from a lady I love dearly and who is insanely talented, Mary from Keynko. She’s giving away a pair of handmade bookends and a handbag which has been upcycled from silk scarves. I’m seriously wishing I could enter myself to win these! a Rafflecopter giveaway

Our next prize is something that I’m so in love with; my friend Jenny, who blogs at Cheetahs in my Shoes, is one of my favourite photographers in the world – she was recently commended at an awards ceremony by the Zoological Society of London for her nature photography and is going to be published in one of their books! She’s given us a canvas print of a rose that she shot herself, my favourite flower.

Last but definitely not least is a brand who BB and I absolutely adore, Sophie La girafe, who’ve given us an utterly adorable dress-up tabard which comes in sizes 3 months to 3 years.

Win a Jelly Jamm Bundle!

If you haven’t already seen it, Jelly Jamm is an absolutely gorgeous kids show which manages to be really fun and educational at the same time, which is a real bonus. Sausage loves the brightly coloured characters and all of the fab songs in the show, so when we were asked if we wanted to offer our readers the chance to win a bundle of Jelly Jamm goodies, we jumped at the chance! Here’s what the official website has to say:

“Jelly Jamm’s main objective is to entertain 4-6 year-old girls and boys. In order to achieve this we need a high-quality product with an educational point of view. To elaborate on this educational perspective we collaborate with child education experts  and screenwriters specialized in preschool. Adding this to our previous production experience allows us to define our educational philosophy from which many elements of the series are developed such as characters, storylines, the world of Jammbo and its musical nature.”

Here’s what you could win:

Jelly Jamm

  • A Jelly Jamm DVD
  • A Bello soft toy (23cm)
  • A Green Musical Dodo
  • A Jelly Jamm Lunchbox

Win A Bouquet from Serenata Flowers

I’m sorry, I know I’m a walking cliché, but I really do love receiving flowers. They brighten up a room and make me feel special, which is something that everyone should feel from time to time. I’m not one-sided though, Sausage and I have been known to buy Husband flowers to brighten up his office – flowers shouldn’t be gender restricted as far as we’re concerned! For readers in Australia, Flowers Across Sydney can deliver flowers directly to you.

Sausage actually received her first ever bunch of flowers today. Husband and I went to see her in her very first school play, where she took the esteemed role of Mary, so we thought it only fitting to present our little performer with a bouquet of her own. We opted for a small bunch of soft pink roses and she was absolutely delighted!

Christmas Celebration Bouquet

The lovely people at Serenata Flowers have some gorgeous seasonal bunches available, as well as lots of beautiful classic bouquets that would brighten anyone’s day and the good news is that they want to give one away to one lucky Mum’s the Word reader. You’ll get up to £35 to spend on the site and all you need to do is leave me a comment by the 16th December telling me which bouquet you’d choose if money were no object from the Serenata Flowers site. For an extra entry you can also tweet the following:

“I want to win with @jaynecrammond and @SerenataFlowers and you can too, just go to http://wp.me/p2oKoO-2rt to enter”

Good luck!

The giveaway is open to mainland UK readers only. Closes at midday on 16th December, winner will be chosen are random and no cash alternative will be offered.

Our Liverpool Experience and Little Livers/Mighty Red Giveaway

It’s been a while since I posted the first part of our Liverpool Football Club experience but needless to say it’s all still fresh in our minds. I won’t follow up with a full-on match report, but suffice to say seeing Luis Suarez score his first home hat-trick was an unbelievable experience! The atmosphere during the match was like nothing I’ve ever encountered before – you can genuinely feel the excitement crackle in the air like a firework and watching the stadium erupt into cheering and song when someone scores is one of the most exhilarating moments of my life.

Liverpool vs. West Brom - facing the Kop

If you’re a Liverpool fan, or even just a football fan in general, you’ll know that the song ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ is really important to the club. It’s originally from the film ‘Carousel’, written in 1945 by Rodgers and Hammerstein, but was recorded by Liverpool legends Gerry and the Pacemakers in 1963 and was adopted as a club song by the fans. I’ve heard it sung by the Kop end of the stadium on TV and in audio recordings hundreds of times, but standing in front of the Kop, singing along with 12,400 die-hard Liverpool fans and watching my daughter sing along was something I’ll never, ever forget.

We all left after that game feeling utterly elated. I’m so pleased that we got to have this experience as a family and I’ll be making more effort in the future to get us all there again (providing we can get our hands on tickets!). Now that Sausage has been to Anfield, it’s only right that her sister gets to go too!

Now, the good news is that I have 4 kids Liverpool FC membership packages available for you to win! Here’s the blurb:

Liverpool FC also offer special memberships for little ones, with Little Livers (0-3 years) or Mighty Reds (4–11 years) packages available. Tailored to suit each age range, both welcome packs are worth over £25 and come with great benefits such as an LFC birthday card, priority access to Barclays Premier League home games and the chance to become an LFC Mascot. The ideal birthday or Christmas gift for little ones.

All you have to do to win is leave me a comment below telling me who your little one’s favourite Liverpool player is and why.

(winner will be chosen at random, giveaway closes at midnight on 11th December, no cash alternative will be offered. Prizes to be provided by LFC, Mum’s the Word accepts no liability for the provision of prizes)

Moshi Monsters Trunki Review and Giveaway

Recently, we took Sausage on her first weekend away and suffice to say, she absolutely loved it. We stayed in a hotel for one night before going to watch a football match, and she was probably the most excited I’ve ever seen her about sleeping in a room that wasn’t her own, which had a TV on the wall and a bathroom attached to it.

What she loved most of all was being able to pack a bag of things that she’d need to take with her for the weekend; Sausage is MAD about bags and cases – there’s a running joke in our house that if something goes missing, the first place you should look is inside Sausage’s handbag collection. Ever since she was little, one of her favourite things to do was pack her toys inside a bag and pretend to be going on a trip, so when the people at Trunki got in touch, I knew we’d be on to a real winner with Sausage. Here’s the case we chose:

Poppet Moshi Monsters Trunki

Moshi Monsters are definitely the ‘in’ thing at the moment, Sausage has a huge collection of Moshi merchandise and toys, so we knew that the Poppet Trunki would appeal to her. Here’s the blurb:

Poppet is every bit as cute as her name suggests. With twinkling eyes and bright blue boots (wheels!) she’s the ultimate travelling companion for little monsters! Trunki was created to beat the boredom so often suffered by travelling tots. Designed to be used as hand luggage, kids can pack Trunki with all their favourite belongings whilst parents keep them in tow. It’s made from the same lightweight, durable plastic as adult cases, and has a generous 18 litre capacity for toys, games and spare clothes. Trunki comes with its own passport, which you can register online and fill with fun, travel friendly activities for the journey.

This would make a gorgeous gift for Christmas for any Moshi-mad kid, and even if they aren’t as Moshi crazy as Sausage, there’s a whole range of cases for kids to choose from.

Now, here’s the good news – we’re giving you the chance to win your very own Moshi Trunki! You can choose from the gorgeous Poppet case above or the equally awesome Katsuma Trunki.Katsuma Moshi Monsters Trunki

Moxie Girlz Magic Hair Colour Studio – Review and Giveaway

Last week, Sausage celebrated her 5th birthday and the awesome folks at Moxie Girlz decided that they’d like to send my special girl a very special present. She was super excited when a package for her arrived and was beside herself with excitement when she saw what was inside – her very own Moxie Girlz Magic Hair Colour doll! We were sent Avery, pictured below:

Moxie Girlz Magic Hair Studio Avery

As you can see from the photo, Avery comes with everything she needs to do some seriously funky stuff with her hair. As well as blue and pink clip in extensions, she has red and blue hair crayons (which slot into a little miniature pair of what look like hair straighteners, adding to the novelty value for the littlies), a brush, a tube of hair glitter and an applicator. As well as being able to use the accessories on Avery, all of them can be used on real hair too, a fact that it took Sausage about half a nanosecond to work out!

The colours wash out really easily (from Avery and Sausage’s hair!) and the glitter doesn’t make things too sticky so it can be brushed through if you don’t have time to wash it out. If I had one minor criticism, it would be that the hair extensions are held in the packaging looped over themselves, which means once they come out they stay curled up. It’s not too much of an issue as I just put them inside a tea towel and ironed them flat on the coolest setting, but it’s still a bit of a pain that they can’t be used properly right out of the box.

I’m definitely more a fan of Moxie Girlz than I am of Barbie – the body shape is a lot less extreme and the dolls just seems a bit more dynamic than the others on the market. Sausage absolutely adores her new doll. She’s been walking around with various bits of pink and blue in her hair for the last week and has played with the set pretty much every day since it arrived.

The good news is, not only did the lovely people at Moxie HQ give Sausage a set to enjoy, they have two sets to give away to my readers! Simply fill in the Rafflecopter widget below to be in with a chance of winning.
