Mum. Wife. Dog owner. Blogger. Housework-avoider. Still deciding what I want to be when I grow up.

That’s me in a nutshell.

This is me in a slightly bigger nutshell:

My name is Jayne, I’m 30, I live in the South East of England with my Husband, our 6-year-old Daughter, who you’ll know as ‘Sausage’, our 10-month-old daughter, Burrito Baby (BB) and our 9-year-old English Bull Terrier-cross, Chuck. We live in a little bungalow which generally looks like a bomb has hit it, but we’re all pretty happy.

As well as writing a blog, I have various other things that I do on a day-to-day basis, managing social media for a couple of small businesses, a couple of different writing jobs and some PR work, all thrown in for good measure. Obviously, I’m a ‘variety is the spice of life’ kind of gal…

I’m a lapsed student – lapsed as in; starting a BSc in Psychology back in 2010, getting part way through, changing my mind about what I wanted to be when I finally grow up, taking a break, deciding I want to study something about which I have a passion and enrolling on a Social Policy and Politics course, with a specialism in Youth Justice. I’ll get my degree…one day!

I started Mum’s the Word in 2010 as a way to get the 4 million unarticulated thoughts that were making a daily tornado in my brain out onto a page. I didn’t think anyone would ever read it and the day that I got 73 views, a few weeks later, I felt like the Tolkien of the blogging world. Then I burst my own bubble and realised I still had a very long way to go, so I’m still working at it, having finally reached a spot in the top 100 of the Tots100, but most of all just using my blog as a way to rant, share, connect, document and try to make a few people laugh. I hope you enjoy what you find here, I’m very proud of it all…so far!
