Five Ways to Quit Smoking

It’s 2019, which means that everyone is aware of just how damaging cigarette smoke is, and if you’re still a smoker there’s never been a better time to quit. Thankfully, there are loads of things you can do to help you quit, and we thought we’d take a look at some of them in more detail.

Vaping

Vaping is now the most popular method of quitting cigarettes, and it can save you huge amounts of money in the long run, too. Once you’ve bought your e-cigarette, you can choose from a huge range of eliquid flavours and the whole setup will cost significantly less than smoking. The choice of products is huge and if you opt for a brand such as Dinner Lady you can even find flavours which are just like dessert, helping to you control your sweet tooth, too!

Cold Turkey

Some people choose to go cold turkey when they quit smoking, which means putting the cigarettes down and not using any other methods to help you. It takes a lot of willpower to go completely cold turkey and people who chose this method are most likely to fail and go back to smoking again.

Nicotine Replacement

There are a whole load of nicotine replacement products out there and whole they’re better for you than cigarettes because they don’t contain tar and other nasties, they replace one crutch with another and eventually you’ll need to quit the patches or gum, too!

Therapy

A lot f people who smoke do so because of the habit, needing something to do with their hands and a lot of people replace another habit with smoking, so it stands to reason that some sort of behavioural therapy would help you to quit. A therapist can help you to identify triggers and find ways to replace the habit of smoking with something more positive.

Medication

In the worst cases, there are medications that your GP can give you which will help you to stop smoking. You should only resort to medications if you’re finding it impossible to quit with any other method and your GP will be able to give you more information about the medications available.
