Maternity Matters

Maternity Matters Launch Day is on Friday!

My friend and Maternity Matters partner, Susanne of Ghostwriter Mummy, has written a blog post telling her readers all about the launch of the new site, and while I could have rehashed what she said ever so slightly, as usual, she’s said everything that needs to be said perfectly.

Some of you will know that Maternity Matters is due to launch on Friday. Some of you will also know that Jayne and I are currently up to our eyes in it trying to get everything ready on time! Bear with us – it’s a work in progress, but that’s what makes it so special.

Maternity Matters has become more of a collaborative blog than certainly I anticipated and this fact alone makes me feel really rather privileged to be a part of it. Today one of our contributors came up with an excellent way to involve even more of us on launch day and Jayne and I would be honoured if some of you joined in.

On Friday, the lovely Natasha at The Life and Times of a Domestic Anarchist will be hosting a Maternity Matters Meme! This is to spread the word of MM and to involve as many parents and parent bloggers in our endeavour as possible. All you have to do is to link up an existing (or new, if you have time) post which you feel sums up what being a parent is all about. It might be something simple like a post you wrote about the first smile, or first steps. It might be the first wobbly tooth (!) or an achievement at school. It might be a hospital visit or a special word. Whatever the moment, its guaranteed that we have blogged about it at some point and we would like to celebrate it. By linking up posts like this, we hope to capture what Maternity Matters is all about – being a parent and fighting for our right to do that well.

So if you do join – and we hope you – please, please, tweet the hell out of it, using the hashtag #maternitymatters! Get as many people as possible involved. Post it on BMB, Twitter, Facebook pages. Get a mega phone and shout it from the rooftops if you want to. We really want all the hard work that our contributors have shared with us to be appreciated!

Maternity Matters has become an important part of my life at the moment and by sharing in this with so many I feel that I am becoming more and more ready to move on with what happened with my son’s birth. This week, almost 16 months after he was born, I agreed to see a birth trauma counsellor. This is my first step and this is why MM is so important.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed. Thanks to future contributors. Thanks to all of you who will be linking up on Friday!

So there you have it. We’d love it if you’d all get involved, and we hope you like our new venture!

AirWick Review and Giveaway

Being dog owners, we’re often aware of how our house smells. We vacuum regularly and have a Dyson with  HEPA filter, which really helps, especially as I have allergies, but with a combination of dog beds and blankets, and actually having animals in the house, there’s always a chance that the house smells a bit musty. Having the windows open 24 hours a day would help, but in our not-so-clement English weather, it’s not the most practical option.

Because of all of this, I’m a bit of an air freshener addict. I love a good spritz about with a spray room freshener, have scented candles on the go and have even used the good old-fashioned gel air fresheners too. Whilst these are all great, I’m not keen on using spray fresheners around Sausage too often, and having a candle burning for long periods of time when you’re as scatty as me is just a no-no!

When AirWick asked if I’d like to test out their Luxury Collection, I jumped at the chance to feed my addiction! We received a sample of the plug-in in ‘Exotic Bamboo & Lotus Flower’ and a ‘Freshmatic i-motion Compact’ in ‘Precious Silk and Oriental Orchids’. The latter was extremely welcome in our gadget-obsessed house as is has a built-in motion detector which tells the device to give a little squirt when someone walks past! Extremely nifty, and we found it really handy to have in the bathroom.

As much as I’m a lover of room fragrances, I’m actually really fussy about the smell because I’m quite prone to migraines, and find that strong smells can set one off. This hasn’t been a problem with the plug-in, which I must admit, I have going pretty much all day! The whole house smells fresher, more homely, and overall, more welcoming.

I’ve got two sets to give away, each consisting of a Freshmatic i-motion Compact’ in ‘Precious Silk and Oriental Orchids’ and an ‘Exotic Bamboo & Lotus Flower’ plug in. To win, just leave me a comment below telling me you’d like to be entered, and I’ll draw the winner in one week. Good luck!

All About ME!

It’s All About ME! – Update

Well, I’ve been using the First Aid Beauty Eye Roll-on for a little over two weeks, and I’m absolutely loving it! Last week, Sausage had a rotten chest infection, and one morning she got up at around 4.30am, as all of the coughing had woken her up. I dragged my sorry backside out of bed, feeling like a bag of poo and looked into the mirror to see two of the blackest, puffiest eyes looking back at me. I slapped on some of my eye-roller, and within half an hour, I was looking fresh as a daisy. Miraculous!

The Viridian Ultimate Beauty Complex capsules that I’ve been taking also seem to be working wonders. My nails seem stronger than ever, and also seem to be growing a little quicker than usual too. My hair doesn’t seem to be falling out as much (my hairbrush usually resembles a long-haired guinea pig) and my skin…well, that’s another issue. About a week after I started the capsules, Husband commented that my rosacea was looking better, but I decided to go to my G.P., just to get checked out. She gave me some antibiotic cream to use, and since I started using it, my cheeks have been redder than ever! So it’s off of the cream for now, and I’m hoping the improvements that I saw with the capsules will continue.

I’ve got some exciting product reviews coming up over the next couple of weeks, including hair extensions, make-up correctors and mens toiletries, as well as some great giveaways, so keep your eyes peeled (and bag-free, with an eye roll-on)

Wow, that last bit was cheesy, even for me!
